For authors

We invite interested persons to submit articles in the form of a summary, with a volume not exceeding 1,800 characters with spaces, by e-mail to: elementy@asp.krakow.pl. On this basis, the editorial staff makes a decision on co-operation. The review and (potentially) editing process starts upon receipt of the full text with all required attachments.
Articles should be consistent with the profile of the journal and meet editorial requirements stated below. Applications submitted in any other way, inconsistent with the stated editorial convention or not containing necessary attachments will not be accepted.
Submitting a text means that the author agrees to its publication in accordance with conditions consistent with the journal’s author policy.
The editorial requirements for authors of reviewed texts and smaller non-reviewed forms (reviews, columns, overviews) are specified below.

Review process

Each issue of the Elementy, Sztuka i Dizajn journal contains at least 8 articles reviewed in accordance with the peer review model.
Each article is evaluated by two persons. Reviewers and authors of reviewed articles remain anonymous, even when a text by one of the editors of the journal is published.
An article submitted for publication in the journal must not be considered for publication elsewhere at the same time. Authors are obliged to obtain permission to use previously published materials.
Articles are evaluated in consideration of such criteria as their conformity with the profile of the journal, the significance and topicality of the subject-matter, the originality of substantive findings, the purposefulness of addressing the research problem and the correctness of research methods, the accuracy of selection and the originality of the visual material.
Each review is concluded with an application for the acceptance of the article for print, its acceptance after corrections or its rejection. Reviews serve as recommendations, whereas the final decision is made by the editorial staff. This does not apply to situations when an article was evaluated negatively by two reviewers – in such a case, a third external acceptance review is necessary.
The editorial staff reserves the right to desk-reject articles.
